Britta Jansen, born in 1980 in North Rhine-Westphalia, sought a home at various theaters in West Germany at the age of 19. She studied costume design at the Dresden University of the Arts. For 15 years, she has worked as a freelance theater set designer, costume designer, art instructor, teacher, and activist. She creates collective political performances in public spaces. She works in inclusive, integrative peacemaking. Upcycling is a necessary, contemporary technique. Her expression is self-taught, free from academic constraints. Her works are childlike, imperfect; the angry, disobedient teenager screams within her, and an old soul prays. She witnessed the trauma of her grandparents, who survived the war. In East Germany, she experienced the trauma of the GDR dictatorship. Many travels have shaped her worldview. Community, love, and freedom are her passion.
